Winifred Jamieson - Lecturer

Winifred Jamieson trained as a contemporary dancer and obtained a BA (Hons) Dance from London Contemporary Dance School before studying at the Laban Centre with Transitions Dance Company, touring across the UK and to the Far East. She was a founder member of Dundee Rep Dance Company (now Scottish Dance Theatre) and was Artistic Director of Moving East Dance Company in Cambridgeshire for three years. She was Artistic Director of Scottish Youth Dance Festival (now Ydance) and Co-Artistic Director of Helter Skelter Dance Company specialising in dance performance and education for Primary School pupils. Subsequent to that she worked for a number of years as a freelance choreographer and teacher before lecturing and taking up the post of Curriculum Manager for Performing Arts at Edinburgh’s Telford College (now Edinburgh College). During this time she was External Examiner for the BA (Hons) Dance programme at the University of Central Lancashire for three years and was Principal Assessor for Higher Dance Practice for Scottish Qualifications Authority.

She is currently a part time dance lecturer at Dundee and Angus College and Ballet West. She is a Pilates Instructor and Pilates teacher trainer for Intelligent Fitness. She is a Visiting Assessor for Higher Dance for Scottish Qualifications Authority. She works as a freelance dance artist, choreographer and education consultant, with a recent choreographic commission for Scottish Ballet Elders Company.
