Jonathan Barton - Vice Principal, Ballet
Jonathan Barton trained at Ballet West, was the winner of a bronze medal in the prestigious Genée International Ballet Competition and was awarded the Solo Seal of the Royal Academy of Dance.
Jonathan has toured nationally and internationally with the English National Ballet. He is an Associate of the Royal Academy of Dance (ARAD) and an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) and has performed as a guest dancer for numerous companies.
In 2010, Jonathan was appointed Vice Principal of the Ballet West school where he teaches on the BA(Hons) Programme. In recent years he has toured as Ballet Master for Vienna Festival Ballet and worked with Richard Eyre and former Royal Ballet prima ballerina, Viviana Durante, in creating a brand new ballet based on the film Truly, Madly, Deeply. At Ballet West, he regularly coaches dancers for prestigious national and international ballet competitions such as the Genée International Ballet Competition, the famed Prix de Lausanne and the BBC Young Dancer. Ballet West’s young associates also have the opportunity to work with him on the Glasgow Associates course of which he is Course Director.
